Success and Material Possessions Correlate Wednesday, May 19 2010

Until recently, people equated success by the quality and amount of material possessions they obtained. Now, under the guise of simplifying one’s life, pressure is mounting to discard one’s things, and cast off many modern comforts.

I know a family who succumbed to the lie that greed was the root of their material wealth, and believed they had too much because they were hoarding. Therefore, they sold their beautiful home and many of their lovely possessions in an effort to ‘simplify’. They felt guilty for their prosperity.

Guilt manipulators condemn success, and assault prosperity in a concerted effort to coerce their victims into thinking: less is more — attempting to make everyone equal. If one realizes any level of affluence, and acquires abundant possessions, they make him feel criminal because he has more than others.

Keynesian social engineers tout the innocent unproductive populace as the backbone of society — although they are never satisfied with what they have, and continually crave for more. Furthermore, they feel entitled to a share of the producer’s income, and the government provides it for them in housing, food, healthcare, and schools. Vilified as insatiably greedy is he who buys his own home, eats his own food, gets his own healthcare, and chooses which schools he attends. The wealthy are repeatedly accused of achieving success illegitimately — they obviously cheat the system to make their money — a la Gordon Gekko in the original movie: Wall Street. (Not to be confused with the gecko that rakes in millions of dollars for an American insurance company, and makes it look so easy even a caveman can do it.)

Successful people work hard, have expertise in their respective fields, provide excellent service, and risk failure. There rests the beauty of a free capitalistic society — effort, skill, good service, and fearlessness result in financial reward proportionately.

People strive for a better lifestyle for themselves and their family. Remove that incentive, and those who produce will stop producing and all of society will suffer for it. It is the pursuit of private property which propels mankind forward — even for the French. Many people living in centrally planned societies look at the affluence we enjoy, and yearn to have the same opportunities available to them in their own countries. But alas, many suffer under despot leaders — who, of course, deny themselves no luxury — yet oppress their subjects through so-called ‘social justice’.

Liberty is good, and prosperity is the natural by-product of a free society. Edmond Burke, the great English statesman of the 18th century, correctly observed: free men are not equal, and equal men are not free. Let us not become fatalities of those who want to strip us of our liberty and thereby impoverish us as a nation. Birthed as the beacon of freedom, America must stand firm in her heritage, and resist the guilt manipulators who condemn her, and want to control her citizens by ‘simplifying’ their lives.

Obama like Jesus? Monday, Apr 12 2010

Some people confuse racism — preference given or denied due to one’s race, with Socialism — the political ideology of: “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need“. Therefore, they believe when someone says the agenda and actions of President Obama are socialistic, that the person who opposes him does so only because Obama is partly black. They will not deny he is a socialist, but will deflect the accusation with cries of racism, and justify his actions by comparing him to Jesus, who, in their minds, was a Socialist in His own right. Both positions, however, are incorrect.

I recommend David Chilton’s book, “Productive Christians in the Age of Guilt Manipulators” for deeper study, but will briefly address these two gross misnomers.

Jesus’ life and teachings promote truth, private property, and individual liberty with responsibility, which are foundational to the proper working of the free market. Regarding healthcare, Jesus never demanded His followers who were doctors (Luke, for example) to practice medicine at their own financial demise. He took nothing from anyone else to give sight, hearing, restored limbs, or the breath of life to those He touched. People received from Him freely, and He gave from His own resources — no one else’s.

Jesus did not continuously feed the poor, either. He never gave preference to someone because he was rich or poor — he treated all equally. On the three occasions when He fed the multitudes, they first listened to Him speak before receiving anything, and when He fed them (out of concern for their strength to travel home), He did so without collecting everyone’s food and redistributing it for all to share equally.

We must remember, too, that Jesus in no way worked for or represented the government. He did not command the government to go and do His work — He commanded His disciples. It is the job of the government to guarantee equal opportunity, not equal property. It is the responsibility of the church to help the poor — but he who refuses to work, shall not eat.

A worker is worth his wages, but not all work is equal, therefore, neither are wages.

Jesus lived a perfect life which included obeying the eighth commandment, “Do not steal”. If Obama wants to imitate Him, he can begin by keeping his hands out of the people’s pockets.

Dems Got Their Healthcare Tuesday, Mar 23 2010

So the Dems got their healthcare bill passed, and stirred the ire and hatred of the masses against them. Pelosi and Reed will not survive the November elections — Reed defeated, and Pelosi replaced.

The people who they say they are for the poor and down-trodden, make them the people who will suffer the most from this egregious legislation.

Where do they think the government gets its money to do all the kind and benevolent things for all those hurting people? If they penalize the producers in the economy, why should, or would, they keep producing? Therefore, if they stop producing, or produce less, how does the government’s take increase? If they lessen government’s take, then they have less to distribute to the moochers. If everyone becomes a moocher — which is what happens in a universal healthcare system — how is there enough, if any, money to offer the services needed?

The entire system fails, but these progressive idiots who are incapable of logical thought continue on in their march toward self-destruction, and drag the country down with them. Forget about what history has shown us! Ignore what medical care is like in other countries! “We will defy the laws of economics,” they say, “because we are in charge, and we know better than God”, (because, of course, there is no God; they are god!)

Foolish, foolish people!

They don’t see that we are only two generations away from implementing Social Security, and it’s a complete disaster. We are only one generation from Johnson’s “War on Poverty”, and the welfare system is the biggest drain on our tax dollars to date, and we still have the poor with us — yet another failure. But these goons cannot see that the healthcare debacle they have imposed on the American citizenry, against their will, is completely unsustainable and will crush us economically. Perhaps that’s exactly what they want. Fools!

Melancon Castigates Vitter Over Landrieu Ammendment Sunday, Jan 3 2010

Unsurprisingly, Rep. Charlie Melancon is castigating Senator David Vitter for not supporting an amendment in the Senate Health Care Bill that Senator Mary Landrieu prostituted herself to have put into it. Go figure! Landrieu proudly brags of her $300 Million pay-off — in the name of Louisiana — for her vote of a bill that will fundamentally transform our nation.

Melancon and Landrieu think like piranha. They see people held captive in poverty by the chains of welfare, and they do their best to see their victims stay there. If America’s poor were to wake up from the stupor that befuddles them, they would see that the very programs and promises made by the government will never satisfy.

The concept of private property, and individuals reaping the fruit of their labor, is fundamental to any free society. In fact, the eighth commandment clearly states, “Do not steal”. There is no qualification or exception to it — not even vote by majority. Theft by any other name is still theft, and that is what Vitter opposes.

Landrieu and Melancon do not understand that government’s job is not to provide equal things, but equal opportunity. Legalized theft, i.e. taxes, is Karl Marx’s central method of leveling the masses. In the name of “caring for the hurting”, the Statist takes from the producers, and gives to the moochers.

People who produce will stop producing if they are not able to keep the money they earned. Look at the late USSR. In 1917, the Communists made promises of bread, land, and peace — a utopia that only government could provide! However, in a few short years, after the “cleansing” of the country, massive famine consumed the nation. Hardship and shortages were the trademark of the implementation of Marxism on the unfortunate Russian populace.

Vitter is standing up for Louisianans, and, in so doing, for the nation. We do not need more back-room deals in Washington. We need statesmen who uphold the constitution. Melancon’s words reveal his bribability, whereas Vitter’s actions, thus far, show he puts principle before personal profit.

Three Worldviews Clamor for Dominance Wednesday, Dec 30 2009

The three competing political/economic philosophies in the world today are Humanism, Islam, and Christianity. These opposing philosophies result in three very different outcomes, yet each has the goal of complete world domination.

Humanism exalts man as its ultimate authority, uses man’s words to direct it, and implements violent revolution to further it. Mao’s axiom “Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun” summarizes how the Marxist-Leninist worldview overcomes all opposition. Revolutionaries view themselves as saviors of the world who must control every thought and action in order to achieve the promised utopia — meanwhile imprisoning, torturing, and killing anyone who resists. Accordingly, creativity is stifled, productivity stops, and prosperity is impossible.

Islam, with Allah as its god, establishes a militaristic theocracy that is brutal to its members through oppressive sharia law set forth in the Koran. War, or jihad, is at its very heart, and the oft-suicidal efforts of Islam’s members to kill their enemies are highly esteemed. Islam squelches the advancement of technology, industry, and invention wherever it prevails. Like Humanism, the consolidation of prosperity to the ruling class, forces the masses to suffer in abject poverty with no hope of improvement.

Finally, the Christian philosophy, using the Judeo-Christian Bible as its code of ethics, liberates societies to be free, productive, and unique. Biblical law protects private property, thus allowing people to enjoy the fruit of their labor. Members within a Christian society are able to choose in what manner and to what degree they want to prosper, and are given the liberty to succeed or fail.

The United States of America, founded on the Christian philosophy of politics and economics a mere 200 years ago, has advanced civilization throughout the earth farther and faster than ever before experienced by man. Unfortunately, our nation is drifting more and more away from the prosperity inducing Christian principles into the murky waters of Humanism, while cowering to the demands of Islam. Consequently, the so-called elites in government strip us of our freedom, while exempting themselves from their own tyranny. Thus, prosperity wanes.

It is the Christian political and economic philosophy of liberty for all, not just a few, which has made our country prosperous. We must refuse Humanism and Islam. We must uphold our constitution. We must return to our God — or we will perish like Rome before us.

Socialism By Any Other Name Is Still Socialism Sunday, Dec 20 2009

In Llewellyn King’s article extolling socialism, he inadvertently reveals the role of good government, and divulges the dirty little secret of a governmental system that discourages invention and growth, and encourages corruption. His examples of parks, public transportation, and community infrastructure are exactly what government should provide — all people benefit equally. In addition, his example of American government officials, and media moguls, who personally benefited from corrupt socialistic legislation, exposes the glaring flaw of socialism.

In a socialistic government, what benefit does the individual glean from the risk, sacrifice, and work he devotes to the development of a new idea?

Times up! None.

In a capitalistic society, what benefit does society glean from the creativity and risk taken by the individual?

Times up! Everything!

Because rewards abound for the individual’s risk and effort, society gains in the development, improvement, and mass implementation of tools that make life much more pleasant. For example, telegraph rather than letters; e-mail rather than telegraph; texting rather than e-mail; twitter rather than texting; and the list goes on in virtually every area of life.

The statists’ inane notion that society is somehow ’entitled’ to the wealth accumulated by the individual is rooted in pure covetousness. Then, when covetousness is legislated, the government shackles the populace with legalized theft. The only person entitled to the fruit (i.e. money earned) of his labor is the individual who worked for it.

Government’s job is to provide equal opportunity, not equal possessions. If someone wants something he does not have, it is incumbent on him to take the necessary steps to earn the income that provides him the means to acquire it. No law should require another to help him.

Europe & Asia can only imitate or tweak what we create. The creation and development of new technology will come to a halt if America continues to socialize her government, and she will become a mere shadow of what she once was — all the while making her people slaves of a corrupt behemoth bureaucracy consumed by an insatiable appetite for wealth and power.

Single-payer health care, by the way, is the capstone of the socialist agenda that will destroy our standard of living, and control every area of our lives. It is a colossal mistake to impose such legislation on our society.

Pelosi – 1; Freedom of Choice – 0 Sunday, Nov 1 2009

Yesterday, Louisiana Senator David Vitter came to Houma, Louisiana, and held yet another town hall meeting. Scheduled only two days after the nefarious Nancy Pelosi health care bill exploded on an unwilling American citizenry, Vitter addressed the crowd. Having with him the 2,000 page, 20-pound bill, and a panel of 1 doctor and 1 small business owner from the area, the audience of over 200 people listened with anticipation for words that would quell their fears. At least ten percent had the opportunity to speak directly to the Senator asking questions or making comments. The audience was calm, but with the specter of that albatross of a bill looming on the table in front of them, everyone paid close attention.

People are concerned that this bill transforms American healthcare into an American nightmare, and rightfully so. Its real purpose is about power, not healthcare. Who has the right to make choices for the individual — the individual, or the government? When does one go to sleep? What does one eat? Does one smoke? May one be over weight, or under weight? According to Nancy Pelosi and her ‘historic’ bill, a bureaucrat will decide all, because the government knows best. We are now a collective.

A Call to D.C. — November 5, 2009 Saturday, Oct 31 2009

As Washington secures the shackles of slavery around the nation’s feet, tyranny looms in darkness waiting to turn the key. We must fight harder than ever before. Radical Marxists have infiltrated our government, and are destroying our country. What heritage shall we leave our children? Freedom or bondage?

Why Democrats Should Start to Sweat.

The Dangerous Climate Change Deception Friday, Oct 23 2009

In early December, our Pulitzer Peace Prize winning President Barack Hussein Obama (mmm – mmm – mmm) will be attending the Conference of the States’ Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Copenhagen. There he is expected to sign an international climate change treaty which will completely undermine our national sovereignty. This 200 page document has three very disconcerting foundational parts. First, it establishes a government of unelected officials appointed by the UN who will govern the member States. Second, it establishes “climate debt” which demands that wealthier industrialized member states must annually pay poorer less developed member states up to 2% of their national GDP because of their culpability in altering the climate. Third, the right to enforce all economic and environmental policies this new government would impose on member states.

However, the President’s signature alone won’t bind the United States to this unwanted unnecessary treaty — our Constitution requires a 2/3 vote in the Senate to ratify it before becoming law. So what’s so horrible if the Senate succeeds in ratifying a climate change treaty? The Constitution mandates that all international treaties shall take precedence over it. In other words, our liberty and prosperity are looking down the barrel of a cannon poised to utterly destroy them. We must remain vigilant and let our Senators know that we do not want this country altering treaty ratified when it comes before them.

I’ll keep you updated as events unfold.
