On Thursday, November 5, a Muslim U.S. Army Major scheduled for deployment to Iraq killed 13 and wounded 38 on US Army base Fort Hood, near Killeen, Texas. Fox News’ coverage of the massacre gave frequent moment-by-moment updates keeping everyone abreast of breaking news. President Obama announced he would address the nation about the tragedy that afternoon, and I waited eagerly to hear what he had to say. The news anchor seemed perplexed that Obama would be addressing the country at such an early stage, and made a couple of suggestions as to why he was doing it. He was positive and supportive of the President’s decision, and proposed his motivation was possibly because he wanted to quell any fears or concerns in the hearts of the American people due to the incomprehensibleness of the attack.
Then Obama hit the airwaves. The man’s opening remarks were to some American Indian / Internal Affairs convention he was attending. He commended people, gave a “shout out”, and promised not to forget our “Native Americans”. Finally, he got around to the attack. He sounded cold, unmoved, and uninformed. While the rest of the country knew the number dead and wounded, he didn‘t, and tried to pretend he was up to snuff on the facts by saying, “we will keep you informed “, but even the blind could see through that thin veneer. His ignorance and apathy were evident for all to behold. This man is a disgrace to our country, and an insult to our men in uniform. It’s like the Clinton administration on steroids.
